The black box

Many of you will know that although we’ve got a number of products and events in the works under our Viewport Industries banner, our main focus over the last few months has been one product in particular: Insites: The Book.

Until now, we haven’t given much away (apart from the occasional Dribbble shot, of course), but as we’re now getting very close to publishing this beast, we thought it was about time we revealed something. So today I’m going to tease you with a few details about the box. You see that photo up there? Well, that’s it!

Okay, that’s not quite true. What you see above is actually a dummy copy of the box we’ve had made up by our printers — the final thing will have a beautiful foil-blocked logo — but if you’re thinking, ‘by jove, that monolith will look rather spiffing in my personal library,’ you’re on the right track. Our idea all along has been to make Insites: The Book a somewhat fancy package and the box is going to play a key part in that. And after all, when you have a little black book that contains the secrets of twenty industry leaders, it seems only right to contain all of those ideas in a little black box.

If you’d like to be the first to hear about the book’s release, be sure to sign up to the VI newsletter.

Wow. That’s what I call teasing :-)
Please release before I finish my Master Thesis in Interaction Design – would like to give it a place in the bibliography!

Looks great. I love seeing how much care and passion you guys have put towards this project. I have a feeling that this book is going to become one of those timeless classic web books we’ll be talking about years from now. Can’t wait! Keep up the amazing work guys.

Matthew Sanders

The idea of keeping it in a black box is quite clever. I am certainly looking forward to this finished product.

Keir Whitaker

@Chris Da Sie – Cheers! Would be great if that were the case!

Keir Whitaker

@Matthew Sanders – Great to hear! It will look even better once we get the foiling on there.
